Christians Against Poverty

Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre has recently opened in Chipping Norton to help people in our town and beyond who are struggling with the burden of debt. We are doing this in partnership with St Mary's Church. CAP are a national charity, working across the UK to lift people out of poverty and debt in partnership with local churches. Free debt counselling is offered through a network of 270 centres based in local churches. We also run the CAP Money Course and CAP Job Clubs.

Christians Against Poverty is an award winning, national debt counselling charity offering free help and advice through a network of debt centres based in the local church. CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counseling, advice and practical help. The unique ‘hands on’ approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts.

How Does It Work?

We work with clients to create a budget that both allows for life’s essentials and frees some money to clear your debts over time.  CAP negotiates on behalf of clients with all the organisations owed money to reach an agreed repayment plan. We also help clients to save for the future, whether this be known costs, such as renewing a TV license, Road Tax, MOT or more general savings to help cover the costs of Christmas and birthdays.
